Studies and statistics prove having a community courtesy patrol, ot even a sheriff-sponsored Crime Watch Patrol, makes a dramatic difference in reducing unwanted activity and crime! The truth is simply criminals do not want to be seen - even if it's just while walking around "casing" the neighborhood. Residents walking around is fine, but covers a limited area.
